"Honestly, I'm not looking for anything in particular," Sulu replied, trudging further into the jungle - it was only barely starting to get dense, now, with thick, spongy grass and low-growing shrubs. "I really just keep an eye out for anything really unusual - I'm trying to catalogue the rarer types of flora, rather than more common divergences. The grass, for example - it's a lot more like iceplant, I guess you could say, right? But there are lots of planets with groundcovering like that, and I don't want to focus too intensely on things we've already found."

He realized that, honestly, Ianto could probably help him find things that were unusual and more striking than the norm. He was somewhat used to alien plantlife, after all. "So, you know," he said, "If you see something that looks weird as all get out, that's most likely what I'm looking for. Admittedly, the more unusual things are in denser parts of jungle-like terrain, but still."
