Though Sulu himself wasn't particularly interested in physical contact as a means of comfort, he did understand its uses and, more than that, he knew that it was something Jack appreciated. It was hard not to figure that out after spending so much time mourning with him.

"You could always use handcuffs," Sulu offered as nonchalantly as possible, though the act was broken by the grin that spread across his face moments later. "But I can understand that. Not wanting to have any more barriers." The truth was that both of them made it hard; Ianto withheld information while Jack left at the first sign of getting upset.
