[RL WITH AKIHIKO]

Ianto sat at his computer down in his personal room in the archives--the bowels of the Hub, the closest thing to a domain that Ianto figured he would ever get. He sat back and pinched his nose, frowning against the headache that the fog was causing him. It seemed to be ever-present no matter what he did, and that annoyed him as he tried to work around it. They had to be on top of things--mistakes cost a person dearly in a job such as Torchwood. Ianto had full intentions of going through the archives with Akihiko looking for weapons that might prove useful in fighting against the Shadows regardless of whatever ridiculous headache he had. He stood from the computer to go down to the correct archive section and get ready to let Akihiko in before going through the archives they had with him. For a second, his headache got really intense, and he started to bring a hand to his forehead. And then he changed.

"That's better," Ianto said. And yet it wasn't Ianto. This Ianto had casual clothes, a silver chain around his neck with a Welsh dragon on it, and a five o'clock shadow--like a Ianto that had lived on the streets for a while. But he undeniably looked exactly like the other man.

It seemed that the room changed with him, and in fact the whole archives changed. No longer were they Ianto's archives at all, instead changed to look like a room in an abandoned warehouse, much like the one that they had tried to rescue the whale alien from what seemed like ages ago. It was a place that was very familiar to Ianto; he'd spent many a day as a misguided youth hiding from his life and his responsibilities in this building, in this large open room. He moved to sit on a crate by the wall, grabbing a dirty magazine from the floor and casually flipping through it.

(no subject)

I'm bored enough with archival to actually be making a post on this journal. This probably means I should enjoy it while it lasts; who knows what's going to be thrown at us next. This lull in activity is making everyone, myself included, a bit antsy. What to post about, though...

Not much exciting here. Continued work on filing things in the archives, made coffee, fed Myfanwy. Lunch is coming up, and I was assigned takeout duty, seeing as how everyone wanted kebab from that place that doesn't do deliveries. There's a rather thick and unpredicted fog rolling in, but this is Cardiff--fog is our middle name. After rain, that is. Got a bit of a headache, though, so the fog and the clouds are not that unwelcome. Hopefully the traffic's not too bad.

((As it is already the 12th here in Japan, I thought, why not? :D))

[IANTO'S SHADOW & PERSONA]

Persona Name: Plentyn-Newid
Description: Ianto's shadow's human form looks, as they usually do, like Ianto, but a lot rougher around the edges. Like Ianto would look if he just stopped caring about everything about his image that people associate with being him. He's making a silly face, but like this. It represents everything he's trying to hide about his background growing up rather poor in an estate house, always being a disappointment to his father, arrested for shoplifting as a teenager, a nobody. Ianto's shadow's true form is another thing entirely. Taken from the wikipedia page, a plentyn-newid the Welsh version of a changeling, initially resembling the person it replaces, but gradually grows uglier in appearance and behavior: ill-featured, malformed, ill-tempered, given to screaming and biting, seemingly of less than usual intelligence but actually identified by wisdom and cunning far greater than the norm. Historically speaking, mothers would use this myth as an excuse to get rid of burdensome or unwanted children. Ianto's shadow is greatly similar to this description, the unwanted child version of himself, dark and twisted. When fighting him, he summons a plentyn-newid version of your character, a dark and twisted child version of him or her that you need to defeat in order to get to Ianto himself while he gives them status boosts. Ianto's persona's form is still similar to its shadow form, except that where the shadow was malicious, the persona is merely confident.
Arcana: The Moon
Inheritance: Ianto is mostly a support character. His spells are Bufudyne (strong ice attack), Matarukaja (improve attack power for allies), Mediarama (moderate healing for all allies), Dekunda (nulls stat boosts for enemies), Resist Fire, Marin Karin (charms enemies to allies side), and Recarm (revives any KO'd allies). Marin Karin is unusually successful.
Elemental Resistance: Charm and Ice resistant, weak to Fire.
Level: Ianto represses a lot of baggage, so he's not to be taken lightly, but he's still not a huge fighter, so I'm putting him at level 52.
