Ah. [So that would pretty much confirm she isn't from Earth as he knows it, then.]
Ehm, yeah. Wales. The country I'm from, it's. Well, it's a little place that mostly everyone else likes to poke fun of, really, but. It does well enough.
[Ianto offers her a little smile of encouragement.]
Don't worry. It's better than a lot of people could do with no excuse at all. I'm sorry if you don't mind me asking though. Given how things are...?
((ooc: i'm sorry for the delay in the response here! :c somehow i marked everything as read from this post from my phone i think. so glad that you can finally get rid of conversation view on mobile gmail at last, hopefully not to be repeated))
Oh— because of Praimfaya. [she pauses at that because she realizes belatedly that the word wouldn't mean much to him so she clarifies on that] The second nuclear apocalypse. Earth still exists but it is practically a wasteland the last I saw it.
[ooc; no worries!! i have had that happen accidentally before too so i totally get it]
[The second nuclear apocalypse. It takes Ianto a moment to wrap his head around that one, the idea of it, and how casually she drops the idea of it. Just the thought of it sounds pretty terrible to him, really. Anything that should have turned the planet into a barren wasteland doesn't sound like a good time to him.]
Where have you lived since then? If Earth is uninhabitable, that is. That's is -- what it sounds like, at any rate?
Well— the first time around, it happened before I was born but mankind went up to space. [as for the second time, well she didn't get much of a choice in the matter so she was still earth bound if only being a nightblood now]

Sorry— the geography of Earth isn't something that I think about a lot given how things are on Earth now.
