[RL WITH GWEN AND SULU]

Ianto pulled his jacket closer to him as he walked down the street towards the pub he was supposed to meet Gwen at. He'd gone home to change, and had just thrown on whatever he could find, because it was only Gwen, and let's face it. His head wasn't into looking good. It was still reeling from the fact that Jack, like a bloody child or something, had done something he'd explicitly told him not to do, and had ended up breaking his highly expensive machine that he'd customized himself, by the way. Of course, the damage was minimal, but he needed to wait until the spare part came in, and until then, Jack wasn't going to get any coffee from him whatsoever, even if he ordered out. Ianto wasn't sure how just quite yet, but he was going to try and make Jack regret what he'd done as much as he could.

He knew it sounded a bit juvenile, to work like that, but if that's what it came to, then that's what it would be. The shouting match he'd had with the other man that morning had sent him fuming for the whole day, to the point where he was probably snapping at Gwen more than he should be as well. He'd tried to hide down in the archives and avoid Jack as much as possible, but there was paperwork to be done that required Jack's signatures, and well. At the end of the day, when Gwen asked him if he'd like to go out for a drink, he'd all but cried in relief and heartily agreed. And so, exactly on time for when they'd arranged to meet, Ianto opened the door and made his way into the pub, scanning the crowd for Gwen's familiar face.

Of course Sulu had heard about it. He reached out to put a hand on Ianto's shoulder. "Yeah, I've heard about it. He..." ...Well. He didn't owe Jack any favors, did he? "Mentioned it on the community." He looked at Gwen, grinning, "Sure. Sounds good."

He hadn't realized it, but as he looked at Gwen he'd sort of started to... well, pet Ianto's arm. He stopped quickly enough, but he wasn't going to pull his hand away. "He wanted to know how to make it up to you, you know," Sulu said slowly, "He really didn't mean to do it." Which wasn't much help, really, but he felt bad for both Jack and Ianto in that moment. Jack, because he broke Ianto's machine and honestly didn't know how to make it up to him, and Ianto because Jack was kind of an idiot.

Sorry it's so late! Gwen was being a problem child!

Oh, Gwen had noticed the solicitous attention Sulu was paying to Ianto and it just made her smile soften as she turned to fetch them the promised pints. It made her happy, seeing them together, not that she didn't approve of Ianto with Jack. It was just.... different. They truly seemed rather fond of the other and watching such a new relationship grow was a treat for Gwen. After all, she wanted her boys to be as happy as they possibly could and would deny them no measure of happiness, no matter how small it seemed.

Sulu shook his head with a smile. "Don't apologize. I'm just glad I'm better than a light up tie." Which was something he couldn't imagine Ianto wanting in any way, shape or form. He couldn't even imagine what that would look like, really, since gag gifts like that weren't very big in his year.

"And, I'm not surprised he drives you crazy." Jack seemed to have his heart in the right general area, but it didn't fix the general sense of... superiority, maybe? Or maybe just a lack of sensitivity. Either way, it made these kinds of situations even worse. "Just remember... he didn't do it because he wanted to make your life hard." His hand reached for Ianto's, "He's just... a captain. Sometimes they don't think about these things." Which wasn't necessarily true, but he was trying to help Jack out here, as well as trying to make Ianto feel better. The least he could do was try, right?

"I don't think operating your coffee machine is exactly like learning to ride a bike or something." More like a hoverbike. There was too much you could forget. "Chances are he just forgot to do something. Next thing you know, everything's broken, people are upset and... you're Jack, so you keep going with it." He shrugged helplessly, unable to really do much to help Jack out here and... well. The guy was charming when he wanted to be, but Sulu was dating Ianto, so. It was pretty obvious whose side he was really on, here.

"And, well..." He grinned and quirked a brow, "No offense to Jack, but you sort of are. He's not exactly the best at this communication thing." He looked over his shoulder, to see if Gwen had gotten their drinks or, more likely, possibly would want to interject either for or against Jack.

Not only had she gotten their drinks, but she had managed to snag a table as well, which was a hard thing to do on a busy night. Once she was settled with the drinks, she whistled over at the boys, waving.

"Oi! Gonna drink 'em if you don't hurry over!"

"Maybe it's something that you're just born with," Sulu said with a shrug, following Ianto as he cut through the crowd, taking a seat next to Ianto. He didn't necessarily need a drink or anything, but damned if he was going to let a free drink go to waste. He contemplated asking about the beer Gwen'd gotten for them, but decided against it. "Alright, so... I'm obligated to ask how bad the damage is, exactly, with the coffee machine. Jack wasn't exactly clear."

"What can I say? It's a gift."

Chucking, Gwen pushed a beer over towards Ianto, then followed suit for Sulu before tucking into her own. The way she drank it made it pretty clear she wasn't exactly a shy girl when it came to drinking.

"He best not have ended up putting me on instant decaf this week. Not gonna be happy if he did."

Sulu was decidedly more subdued when it came to drinking his beer; he had some things he was going to need to finish up later, and he really didn't do well on paperwork and reports when he was drunk. "Well," he said with a grin and a shrug, "I'd offer to talk to him for you, to convince him that he needs to apologize without being backhanded, but. I'm pretty sure that's not my job, my responsibility or even a possibility." He had a feeling Jack would hate that; before, he might've been able to do it, but now that he was dating Ianto? Yeah, no.
