[RL WITH SULU][backdated to 03-20] Shoreleave: Part 2
Ianto had thought that one day on the planet had been exciting enough, but the prospect of another, when Sulu had mentioned it, had been too good to pass up. They'd had such a nice time on the beach, after all. It was only fair that they do a little exploring, let Sulu look for the alien plants that he would want to and get to watch the other man geek out about something for a while. Ianto himself had been embarrassingly excited about the planet and the beach and all the previous day, after all. It would be nice to be able to be the one to sit back and watch the excitement on someone else for a change, reverse roles from the previous day.
They hadn't gotten too early of a start. After all, this was a vacation for the pair of them, and it wouldn't do to have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning (if there were such a thing in space, Ianto didn't really even know). But they gave themselves the better part of the day, and after having a bite to eat (Ianto wasn't sure he would ever get enough of being fascinated with the replicators), and a quick stop by Ianto's flat for more clothes for him (he needed long pants if they might be venturing into the jungle, after all, it was only practical) they found themselves beaming down to the planet again, Sulu with his kit and Ianto with...well. The clothes on his back, really. He didn't really have anything to bring along himself, since they were mostly going to be exploring inland this time.
Ianto looked up at the clear blue sky above him, and smiled at the fact that even the weather seemed to have adjusted so that it was cool enough for him to be comfortable in jeans, but not too cool that it wasn't still pretty warm. "...god," he said. "It's like this place is gorgeous every day." He shot a smile sideways at Sulu. "Better not let me visit for many more days, I might want to stay," he joked.

But, more importantly, he wanted Ianto to be safe, and though he was sure the other could handle another, smaller dose of pollen, he wouldn't want to risk it. So, he stared up at the sky and added, "There's a trowl in the kit. And sample bags. Just need one of them, I guess."
no subject
Getting the sample wasn't too hard. He found the trowel and dug one out, putting it in a sample bag, pausing, before double-bagging it and sticking it in the kit. He had to take a breath as he picked up their clothes, knowing that he'd be alright with just having breathed that, before he made his way back to the shore. He didn't let himself breathe normally until he was safe on the sand again.
"Got it," he said. He shook Sulu's clothes, getting as much pollen as he could off of them, before he handed them back to him. "Here," he said, quietly. "Might want to put these back on before we beam back aboard, yeah?"
no subject
He frowned, then, looking around, "...And I wish today had gone better. Sorry, about all that." He looked to Ianto, "But, I'm ready when you are."
no subject
He squeezed Sulu's hand again, before nodding. "But yeah. I'm ready to go back, get settled in, have a more relaxing rest of the day, if it's all the same to you...?" he said, with a little smile.
no subject
Still, that wouldn't matter too much, since he was sure he could find another pair to pick as his favorite. So long as he didn't inhale any more pollen, he'd be fine. "Here, let's get going. I think we both deserve it, after being chased off a cliff and my nearly choking to death, right?"
no subject
What with the fact that he was probably covered in sand and pollen and salt water, though, the idea of a nice warm shower sounded pretty good to Ianto himself. "Think you can make it through a shower without falling asleep?" he teased, gently, although he was half serious. Sulu looked absolutely knackered, he thought.

He commed the transporter room once he was sure they'd both gotten everything they'd brought with them, and once he gave over their location, it was only a matter of moments before they were being beamed back aboard the ship. He immediately put a steadying hand on Ianto - though he was a little wobbly himself, so maybe it was more for his benefit than the other's - and shot the engineers in charge a look. It clearly explained that nobody should ask why they looked haggard, were sopping wet and covered with white pollen and sand, and it wasn't until they got out of the room that he heard gossiping start, thankfully.
no subject
"You're going to be alright with the samples sitting in your room?" he asked. "I mean, I double-bagged it. I don't know whether that actually helped or not, but. You're going to have to wash this bag as well, to get the pollen off completely. And...well. We're probably going to need to find me a spare change of clothes as well." It wouldn't do, to have to change back into these sandy, wet, pollen-covered things after he'd cleaned and rested up. He'd be staying until Sulu kicked him out, or his vacation was over, and he had until the next day to return to work, so. He wasn't planning on leaving the other man any sooner than that. Granted. They did have the portkey, which went back to his front entry. They could just go back with him naked, but. He wasn't too sure about that yet.
no subject
He couldn't help but smile a little as Ianto mentioned needing a change of clothes, shrugging. "I could always pop over to your place and get you some. Or," he continued, feigning casualness, "We could just not get dressed again until you have to leave." Which wasn't a bad idea. It wasn't like they had anything to do, after all. Definitely no more planet hopping for the day, and really, they could get food any time they wanted. They really didn't have to get dressed again, and Sulu was maybe a little interested in it now that he'd suggested it. He doubted Ianto would go for it, though.

Contrary to Sulu's thoughts at that moment, though, Ianto did have a wicked streak. The man had gotten him to go skinny dipping the day before. There's no reason why he wouldn't agree to something a little less public than that. "We could. We do have a direct route into the entryway of my flat, after all, and it isn't like that's in front of a big window or anything... So it might not be so bad after all, not having a change of clothes," he said, turning to look at the other man with a little bit of a smirk on his face.

They reached the lift and Sulu led the other man in, pressing the touchscreen to take them up to his floor; when the doors closed, he leaned a bit more heavily on Ianto. "I am tired, though," he admitted reluctantly, "So first thing's first, a hot shower to wake up." He closed his eyes briefly and added, "And maybe not so vigorous a workout this time around."
no subject
"So," he said, collecting his thoughts aloud. "A hot shower, not too vigorous, and then maybe we can head to bed?" He smirked a little bit, although it was a gentle one. If Sulu'd need a bit of a nap for recovery after that, then he could have one. Hell, if he did, Ianto'd join him too. They had until the next morning to do whatever they wanted, and if they were going to spend the rest of the time naked like Sulu'd proposed, perhaps a little rest in between wouldn't be such a bad idea.
no subject
He put a bit of space between them so that he could keep his footing, though he made sure to keep close enough so that Ianto's arm could stay planted around his waist, if he chose to keep it there. He liked that, honestly - he liked that Ianto was okay with more open displays of affection, even if they were just in the lift, or walking down one of the lower decks. It was nice.

"Oh, I doubt it that we'll waste the whole time sleeping. Just for a little bit. I'll set an alarm. Wake you up, if that doesn't work for you too..." Maybe pull a few tricks out of Jack's bag if it came to that. Ianto'd slept through enough alarms (when they didn't matter) to be familiar with his tactics there, and all. And they would still be on vacation, then, so he could.
no subject
"I'm a pretty heavy sleeper when I'm tired," Sulu said, raising an eyebrow at Ianto in curiosity - smiling a little. "You'd better have some really persuasive ways to wake people up, if I end up sleeping through any alarms." ...And maybe he'd play at sleeping through it just to find out what they were. Ianto didn't strike him as the jump-on-the-bed sort of guy that Sulu himself was, after all - he was a little too... sly for that.
no subject
"But now's a bit early to be contemplating anything like that, anyway," Ianto said, turning his attention back to the corridor in front of them, and yes, with a slight blush on his face. "After all, we haven't even had that shower yet, yeah? Because we're going to need one before we even think about going to bed. I mean. Look at us," he said. And covered in sand and pollen, they did look a bit of a mess, all things considered. "How much further's your cabin from here?" he asked.
no subject
Truthfully, the shower-tub combination unit was pretty damned nice, all things considered. He hoped Ianto thought it was good enough, for that matter. "C'mon," he said, pulling Ianto in the room as the door slid open, then locked behind them, "I really need out of these clothes."
no subject
At the comment about his clothes, Ianto stepped forward, tugging at the hem of Sulu's shirt slyly, tugging him in the direction of the bathroom. "As for these clothes, though. I agree. You definitely need out of them. We both do..." As it was, they were still soaking wet and uncomfortable as hell, with all of the sand and grit underneath. God, but getting clean was going to feel so good, after this.
no subject
"How hot do you want it?" he asked, before moving over to the shower-tub combination unit, getting ready to set the temperature.
no subject
"Tell you what," he said. "How hot do you normally make it? If you think it's warmer than I'd like, turn it down a few degrees and that should be fine, yeah? I trust your intuition." He moved to start kicking off his shoes and socks, adding them to the pile in the corner as well.
no subject
The shower spray came on and Sulu stepped back to toe off his shoes, then climb out of his wet, sandy and pollen-covered jeans, tossing them on top of his shirt, not worrying about whether their laundry was getting tangled up together. It really wasn't like they weren't all filthy. Though, the closer they got to actually getting into the shower, the more Sulu started to realize just how beat up he was. They had, after all, run through a forest, jumped off a cliff, swam for who knew how far, and then gotten into even more exhausting activities. He was a little surprised he was still standing - but he imagined some of the adrenaline from the day, mixed with the medication he'd taken, was keeping him up and running. Thankfully.

Ianto undid the fastenings of his jeans, pushing them and his pants down and kicking them off into the pile of clothes forming in the corner of the bathroom. He stepped forward and pressed a gentle kiss to Sulu's lips, before pulling back and running his hand over the other man's hair, shaking his head as he watched sand fall out of it from the action. "C'mon," he said, running his hand down Sulu's arm to take his hand, tugging him toward the shower. "We're practically raining grit, we are. This whole room's probably going to need sweeping because of us."
no subject
Stepping over the edge of the tub and taking Ianto with him, he pulled the other man under the spray, leaning back against the tiled wall for a moment. It seemed like he really hadn't had a moment to relax all day - and while he wasn't unused to that, exactly, it was always a little bit of a shock when he finally got a chance to unwind. He reached up and ran his hands through his hair, tilting his head to lean it against Ianto's chest as the spray went to work taking out the sand from his hair. "Remind me never to go near flowers ever again," he groused, though it was completely good-natured.
no subject
He ran his hands through Sulu's hair again, one moving to massage the back of his neck, before tilting his head forward to press his lips against his hair, shutting his eyes against the spray before speaking up. "Got any shampoo anywhere?" he asked. He figured that he might as well wash Sulu's hair for him, give him a scalp massage of sorts while he calmed down and reassured himself that they were both okay. That the events of the day hadn't resulted in anything more than exhaustion on both their parts.
