[RL WITH SULU]

The past few days had been exciting ones, and definitely not in the way that Ianto would have predicted them to be when he'd first set foot on the boat. They should have known that there would be something wrong with this, but how were they to know that Sulu saying that nothing could go wrong after what they'd accomplished on the first night would come back to quite literally haunt them, as it were? Because there really was no denying it anymore. There'd been enough talk about what else had going on in other people's cabins enough to know that it wasn't just their suite. The whole ship was buzzing about it, and though everyone was reporting different things happening, there was really no doubt about it. Regardless of whatever was causing it, the place was haunted.

Ianto'd tried ignoring it. He'd tried rationalizing it, and any other number of things to keep from admitting that what they had were ghosts on their hands. There was really just no denying it anymore. What had started out as objects moving every once and a while, and strange sounds in the night had turned a lot more active over the next few nights, the hot water switching itself off as Ianto was showering, their suitcases emptied out all over the suite while they slept. Ianto'd made sure that the door had been locked each time, and had even taken to sleeping with the key in his shorts pocket, but it wasn't any use. The door hadn't been opening to let anyone in--whatever was happening in the suite, it wasn't coming from the outside.

What had started out as them trying to make the best of their vacation had ended up with, well, at least Ianto being very wary of his surroundings, and of what could possibly go wrong with them. As much as he'd like to initiate something more with Sulu, the idea that they would be watched while they did was...more than a little bit of a turn-off. He hoped that Sulu understood, as it was.

Sulu, for his part, seemed to be taking this whole ghost thing pretty hard. Because paranormal things were sort of right up Ianto's alley, considering that he worked for Torchwood and all, he was trying his hardest to be a good Torchwood officer, keep a level head for the other man, and not freak out at anything that might have otherwise given him pause. Sulu hadn't admitted to being frightened of these ghosts, but. Ianto could tell that he was definitely a lot less comfortable with the thought of them being around than even Ianto himself was. It was almost nice, to be able to be there for Sulu like he had to be because of these hauntings. Almost.

Sulu couldn't help but enjoy the contact between him and Ianto, couldn't help but want it just as much as the other man. He didn't want to move, he didn't want to get up, he didn't care about how close they were to the ghost and their room. All he wanted was to sleep and have Ianto near him. And, well. Maybe some painkillers, but that could wait until tomorrow. God, would they even be here tomorrow? What was going to happen after this?

He felt Ianto's hand on his knee and sighed. Could he stand up? He hoped so. He'd been clocked with a blunt crystal object and thrown through a door - anything was possible tonight. Including standing. "...All right," he said slowly, "I... You're going to have to help me up." Earlier in the night, he'd felt terrible asking for help, but now? Now it was old hat, something he could do without a thought. He needed Ianto's help, Ianto wanted to help him - it was the only option.

Keeping his previously dislocated arm close to his chest, Sulu gripped Ianto's arm and used their combined weight to haul himself to his feet, a few joints in his back popping and cracking painfully. He groaned and staggered forward a bit, holding tight to Ianto, and then leaned in against him, closing his eyes. Oh, yeah, that had hurt. "Remind me," he said slowly, head throbbing and back aching, "Never to get thrown through a door again." At least on the Enterprise, he wouldn't have to worry about that, all the doors opened for him. He laughed a bit.

"Don't worry," he said, taking a few steps while holding on to Ianto, moving them slowly down the corridor, away from the room. "I'm not taking anything faster than this. I've had a busy night." He winced, realizing that he'd probably scraped his knee against the denim - thankfully, it was only his knee - as it ached as he stepped. "I hate the community," he said idly. "Really I do. It does one good thing and a hundred miserable ones."

Sulu laughed a little at that. "Graceful? I don't know if you can actually get thrown through a door gracefully." He looked at Ianto, cheerful despite everything that had happened. Now that he was out of the room and allowed to safely take stock of everything that had happened, he was able to calm down relatively quickly. All of the anger and terror and adreneline was gone, which left him feeling fairly zenlike. It was scarily similar to how he'd felt when fighting the Romulans on top of the drill, actually.

"Yeah," he said, "I'm pretty sure we can't say nothing good happens on the community any more." Because it was true; for all the terrible things it put them through, for all the bad things that resulted because of it, Sulu had met Ianto, and that was all he needed to know that there was some inherent good in the system.

There was a sudden shift in the way everything around them looked; Sulu hooked his arm with Ianto's to keep himself balanced. He wasn't sure if it was his head or not that was making everything seem... off, somehow. He quickly realized, however, that it wasn't him at all, but the ship itself, that was appearing strange, as they turned a corner to go towards the common area of their deck - and suddenly they weren't on the ship at all. Sulu blinked a few times, frowning, holding on to Ianto. "...Am I hallucinating, or...?"

Sulu'd thought the place looked familiar, and now that Ianto had told him, he could recognize everything. That was... That was just weird. His headache was staring to subside, but there was still a low throb in area he'd been hit. His arm, though, that felt fine - a little stiff, but he figured that made sense. He looked at Ianto, frowning thoughtfully. "I feel okay," he said, "Head hurts a little, still, but it's not nearly as bad as before. And... my shoulder feels fine. My back, my knee - everything's fine."

He reached up to put a hand to his head, pulling Ianto's away before feeling around himself. He was fine, there was no laceration, no concussion - but his hand pulled away a little bloody. So, the injuries were gone, but not the rest of it. That was... weird. "I guess that's... how things work? I've never been up when a virus ended." He'd always thought they went on until you fell asleep on the last day. He wondered what time it even was - what day. "That's so weird." He blinked, then smiled at Ianto and said, "But, at least there are no ghosts here."

It was strange, how they'd been brought back together to the same place, but Sulu wasn't going to question it. He didn't care if it was because they'd been awake together, or if they'd been holding on to each other, or just if the community had decided to cut them some slack. All that really mattered was that they were here, and safe, and surprisingly unharmed. Small miracles, Sulu figured.

Ianto mentioned Jack and Sulu turned to him, nodding. "Yeah, go let Jack know. And... maybe let him know I'm here," he added, smiling a bit more broadly, "I don't think I want him tromping in for alone time with you when I deserve it more. Besides, a hop would just make me sick, probably," he said with a shrug, trying to be as nonchalant as possible about the idea of staying. "I think we both deserve some rest, you know?"

Sulu nodded at Ianto's mention of water, smiling at him as he left to talk to Jack. He wasn't really thirsty, no. But, he really could do with some unhaunted faucets for once. So, he moved to the sink, turning it on to splash some water on his face, running his hands through his hair. It wasn't doing much, and he could feel the sticky dryness of blood on his chest and cheek, but it made him feel a little better. At least he knew that it wasn't as bad as it had been - and now that he was coherent enough, he was able to recognize just how much he'd bled.

No wonder Ianto had been so worried for him. He should have realized - the whole time, he'd figured it just wasn't that bad. He did that all the time, it was easier than realizing how out of his depth he was. He shouldn't have done that to Ianto, either, because it just wasn't fair to him. Sighing, he wiped water from his eyes and turned off the sink, leaning over it briefly. Man, he'd acted like a real jackass.

When Ianto called to him, he reached for a towel, hesitating before deciding against using one. Ianto probably didn't need bloodied dishtowels lying around, after all. He turned and ran his wet hands through his hair instead, frowning as they came away with a tinge of pink. "Yeah," he said, glancing up and managing a bashful smile, "Uh. Think I could use your shower?"

Despite the fact that he already knew where the bathroom was, he let Ianto lead him, because it was Ianto's place and he didn't want to seem like he could own the place, even if Ianto didn't spend that much time here. Besides, following him wasn't so bad.

Sulu wasn't sure what he was going to do about clothes - his suitcase was here, but he seriously doubted the community decided to wash his laundry for him. (Though, they probably deserved a full laundry service, after what they had to go through.) He figured that he'd wait and see how Ianto felt before deciding to just say "screw it" and - why was Ianto leaving?

Sulu reached out and grabbed Ianto's wrist in a gut reaction, grip firm but not exactly tight on his arm. He didn't even know why he'd done it, not really, because it might be awkward to have Ianto in the bathroom with him while he showered, but. The irrational part of his brain was suggesting that being alone might be bad, that that's when all the really terrible things happened, the "one last scare" that you got in horror vids and things like that, and Sulu... really didn't want to logic that need for contact away. Of course, he still needed to say something. "...You don't. Uh, you don't have to go," he said slowly, letting the unsaid offer hang.

Sulu knew what Ianto meant by the nod, knew from the look on his face that he was thinking about the ship and how they'd only really gotten that one night, and how everything had gone to hell after that, and they probably deserved this. No, Sulu was sure that they did deserve this. Sulu, after all, had won against the ghost - not that he was going to say anything about that, because didn't that sound self-absorbed? - and he'd worried Ianto, and maybe he'd feel better, less worried for Sulu's well-being, if he could see first hand that there was no wound left on his head, that his arm was fine, that he could run his hands through Sulu's hair and not come away bloody or hurt Sulu.

And, he wanted Ianto to stay. He moved close to the other man and put his hands on Ianto's hips, leaning in to give him a slow kiss. "If you want," he said, smiling because that question was such a joke. Ianto would have just said no, if he'd wanted to go fall asleep while Sulu showered off.

The muscles tensed under Ianto's fingers, still used to the idea of being injured and reacting as such. He made no move to pull away, though, leaning his forehead against Ianto's as he smiled at him. "I don't care how small it is," he said easily, humor in his voice, "You had me at no ghosts." It was pointless to even answer Ianto's question, figuring the fact that he was standing there in his jeans, holding on to Ianto's hips and definitely, by no means pulling away, sort of answered the question for him.

He paused, one hand dropping to the fly of his jeans because, well. They'd have to take off their clothes, of course. "I have no idea how to work your tap," he said suddenly, because all the showers he had were push button, and a kitchen sink was a lot different from a shower.

Sulu raised his hand from his pants to Ianto's shoulder, hitting him lightly. "Shut up," he said as Ianto laughed, unable to deny the fact that it was pretty funny, especially for someone who was used to this kind of tap, who had a hot and cold instead of just a temperature input and a start-stop set of buttons.

As Ianto moved to turn on the water, Sulu turned to watch him, realizing that Ianto was still in his sleeping clothes. This was probably the longest he'd ever seen Ianto move around in shorts, and he was too busy fighting off a ghost to notice? That was completely unfair.

When Ianto turned back, Sulu grinned. "I think I'd rather have you around to do all the work," he said easily, his hands finding the hem of Ianto's shirt. "Now, are you going to take off your shirt, or am I doing it for you?"

Sulu's jeans needed to come off, that was very true, but Sulu decided he would just have to wait until Ianto was undressed. He didn't bother saying anything; he was afraid that he'd do something wrong, now that he'd gotten this far. With a smile, he let himself be pulled close to Ianto, stepping so that he was pressed against him, hands toying with the bottom of Ianto's shirt, leaning in to kiss him briefly before moving to pull his shirt off.

He was slower than he'd liked, because he wanted to make sure Ianto wasn't about to get tangled up in the fabric, but once it was off Sulu was kissing him again, hands grabbing at his shoulders and pulling him close before easing back to Ianto's hips, hooking around the elastic waistband of his shorts but, he wanted to take his time here. They hadn't had this much privacy in four nights and he wanted to use it while he could.

It wasn't hard to feel the same way Ianto felt, even if Sulu had no real clue that the other was thinking about how, less than half an hour ago, he'd been thrown through a door, how his back had ached and he'd been sure something was cracked - he hadn't dared mention it to Ianto, though, not then, not when they had so many other things to worry about, wandering down the hall in a haunted ship.

But, now, his ribs, his spine, his skull and shoulder, they were all fine, and Ianto was touching his back with an easy grace that he was sure he was never going to get enough of. Ianto was... something special. Sulu was pretty sure of that by now. Hell, there wasn't any way to deny it at this point, because he'd let his emotions get the best of him with the other and that didn't happen often. Not with him.

Smiling against Ianto's mouth, he tugged lightly on the shorts and murmured, "Don't you run out of hot water here?"
