[RL WITH SULU]

[Ianto looks at the people milling around in Mickey Mouse ears, at the rides around him and at the people dressed up as characters, princesses and adventurers and just about everything in between as he roams the streets of what seems to be a pretty extravagant version of Disneyland. Ianto's heard about the parks, but he's never been to one himself, and yet still, he figures that this one must be some sort of uber!park. Like that one time that all the worlds combined together into one giant mash-up, that this was the same thing only with Disney parks.

Ianto stops in front of a rather large sort of man-made pond, watching a ferryboat go by on it, and tries to figure out what he's going to do now that he's walked around and investigated the place.]

[Sulu has been to Disneyland once in his life, and it had been... different. Mostly because everything here was as it was meant to be, not modified and, unfortunately, it was sterilized to a strange degree of kid-friendly. Then again, he supposed they didn't have to contend with the various alien lifeforms that his time did.

Still, it's cool. He's wandered all over the park (or, he thinks he has, but he's not sure, a lot of this isn't like Disneyland but more... an amalgamation), and now he's moving through packs of visitors, some from the community, some just there, passing by the Haunted Mansion. He sticks by the riverfront, since it's less crowded and he can check out the souvenir stands. He notices, out of the corner of his eye, a particularly suited individual who he seems to constantly come into contact with during viruses. Waiting until he's closer to make sure he's right, he calls out to the other man.] Ianto!

[Ianto turns when he hears someone calling out his name. Not a lot of people have his name around the community, and he has a hard time imagining that whoever it is is calling out to anyone but him. He couldn't quite hear the voice, so it takes him a moment to look around and spot who it is that called out, especially because Sulu isn't wearing his uniform and therefore blends into the crowd rather well. When he spots the other man, though, a grin spreads wide across his face, and he waves him over to where he's standing, where the crowd's a bit thinner than the throng around them.]

[Sulu makes his way across the plaza to where Ianto's found a place to stand, coming up to lean against the wooden railing, his grin lazy and pleased.] I should have expected to see you here. [He looks around,] Did Jack get caught up in this one too?

[torchwoodteaboy]

[Ianto nods, with a shrug] Yep. He's around here somewhere. It seems a lot of people wanted to take him around, show him the sights. [Ianto himself has only spoken to Elektra and Scotty so far that day. He's not jealous of Jack, though. Jack should go out and have fun more often, and it's only fitting of his personality that everyone drag him around. Ianto's content to stand to the side and be abducted by the people that really matter anyway]

Last time I saw him, your Chief Engineer had dragged him off to go check out something or other, can't quite remember what.

[parked]

[Sulu laughs, unsurprised by that.] I should've figured. Jack's a popular guy, especially with the Starfleet crowd, it looks like. So - what have you been doing here?

[torchwoodteaboy]

[Ianto shrugs] Wandering around, this and that. Talked to Elektra for a while, then I had lunch with Scotty before we ran into Jack. [He laughs slightly, blushing] It's been a while since I've been to an amusement park, I'm... Feeling a bit out of place, really.

[parked]

Well, it's been a long time since I've been anywhere like this too, you know. [He grins and reaches out to put an arm around Ianto's shoulders.] So don't worry. It's Disneyland, man, you can't really be out of place here.

[torchwoodteaboy]

[Ianto motions down to the clothes that he's wearing] I'm in a suit, and tie, Sulu. I think it's pretty safe to say that I look a bit out of place here, even if you can't agree on anything else...

[parked]

Well. Okay. [Sulu grins and runs a hand through his hair.] But hey, we could... I don't know. Buy you clothes here, maybe? Then you wouldn't stick out. Even though I'm pretty sure there are some other community members who stick out a bit more at a 21st century amusement park than you, you know.

[torchwoodteaboy]

And have me dressed entirely in Disney merchandise? I think not. [Ianto smiles despite his snarking.] No, I'm fine, really. It's like you said. There are more people who stick out worse than me. I'm just...more overdressed than most. [He could take his jacket off, but then he might lose it, and it was a rather nice jacket. Ah, the sacrifices one makes to dress smart]

So what have you been doing here, then?

[parked]

Not much. Just... you know, looking at stuff. I think I'm too old for the rides, and I feel like I might get morally offended if I wander into Tomorrowland or whatever it's called. [Sulu grins, indicating that he's pretty sure he wouldn't be offended by anything in Disneyland.] Most of the rides are a lot different in the 23rd century, and I only ever went to Disneyland once, so... it's weird.

So, have you just been standing here and watching the water?

[torchwoodteaboy]

Yeah, I heard it calling to me and I just couldn't look away. [Ianto snarks for a moment, before shaking his head] No, I've had a bit of a walk around. First time being here, after all. Needed to familiarize myself. And then I found myself here, but that's more because it was probably the one place where I didn't feel like I was in the way as I tried to figure out what next. [He shrugs, slightly. He's never really been one for crowds]

[parked]

[Sulu raises an eyebrow at Ianto's quip, but doesn't say anything about it.] Well... You know. It's an amusement park. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be amused. Having fun, and stuff like that.

Oh yeah? Fancy that. How aptly named these places are, then. [Oh, the snark]

[parked]

It's almost like they planned it. [He tilts his head a bit, wondering a moment over something before reaching out for Ianto's hand.] Well, if you're just going to be sarcastic about it, I guess it's my duty to force you to be amused.

[torchwoodteaboy]

Well. I promise I'll try not to make your duty too hard on you, then, if it's any consolation to you. [He tilts his head back at Sulu, smiling gently (and blushing slightly) as he grips Sulu's hand back in his]

So. What d'you suppose we should do now, then?

[parked]

Well... I guess we should go on a roller coaster. [He tugs at Ianto's hand.] Unless you've got your eye on another ride. Aren't a lot of these still popular in the 21st century?

[torchwoodteaboy]

[Ianto shrugs, laughing] I haven't the faintest idea. You do know that I live in Cardiff, right? [he jokes] It's not like we've got a Disney Wales or anything like that, I'm afraid. Closest park's in...Paris, I think it is.

[parked]

Well, yeah, but it's Disney. Even I know some of the older rides and they don't even exist in Disneyland in my time. [He starts moving in a general "thataway" direction.] But okay, then, how about you pick a theme? Everything's themed, so...

[torchwoodteaboy]

How about I narrow it down to...nothing with water? And age-appropriate. And you're not getting me on any teacup ride of any sort, Lieutenant, I don't do spinning. [He shoots the other man a look that says that he shouldn't ask, it's better not to.] Does that give you enough to go on? Honestly, I've not the slightest clue about anything in here, and what with most of it not being visible from the outside... [He shrugs]

What do you think I would like to go on? [He asks, challenging the other man]

[But teacups are fun!

Fine.] I don't really know the rides either but. I dunno. There's nothing age-appropriate for twenty-somethings, really. Not near us, at least. There are roller coasters though...

[Teacups are fun if you don't get motion sickness. If you do...

Ianto doesn't want to be a downer, and so even though he's not really big on roller coasters, he decides that he might be able to at least handle those]

I guess...that roller coasters aren't too bad. Depending.

Depending on what? [He nudges Ianto's shoulder and starts towards... well, he's not sure what's this way. He's going with his instincts, here.] Maybe we should just wander around until you agree on a ride with me. How about the mountain one?

[torchwoodteaboy]

[Ianto thinks about it] ...the mountain one should be alright. I just. I don't do any roller coasters that flip or go upside down, is all. [Never had, but especially not after his death-defying car chase ending in being pushed over a cliff. Hadn't really been his idea of a good time, after all.]

[parked]

That's okay. I think there are only a few like that around here, anyway. [He starts off towards the mountain in the distance, then! He can kind of figure why Ianto wouldn't like those, after all.]
