[RL WITH SULU][backdated to the 10th]

Ianto stood in his kitchen, in front of a grocery bag on his table. A grocery bag full of food that he had bought in preparation for making it with Sulu. For Sulu. ...what the hell had he been thinking, he wondered, as he stared at the bag in front of him before starting to pull the different ingredients out. He had absolutely no idea how to cook. He could call his sister and ask her about it, but. That would mean he'd have to call his sister and ask her about it, and although he'd come out to her a while ago, he still wasn't quite ready to talk to her about either Sulu or Jack.

He'd looked up a recipe, and really, how hard could it be?, he thought to himself, as he refrigerated the ingredients that needed to stay cold. They just had to follow the recipe, and everything should turn out fine, right? He certainly hoped so. He'd like to not make a fool of himself in front of the other man if he could help it. Sure, Sulu wouldn't mind, he figured, but. It'd be nice to get this right at least, he thought, as he went to get out the right sized pot from the back of his cabinet where it'd been sitting for probably the majority of the time he'd owned it.

[RL WITH SULU][backdated to the 15th]

Ianto tried to roll over, but noticed two things. One, that there was someone in the space where he was trying to roll over, and two, that that someone was pretty much sprawled over-top of him. Oh. And that that someone was female. As was he, apparently. Still. He lay his head back down on the pillow with a sigh. Well. It could have been worse, he supposed. At least he was still humanoid. He'd rather be a woman than...god knows what, a cat or a fly or something. And there wasn't really anything bad with being a female, other than the fact that it was awkward. He didn't have to continuously keep touching anyone lest he pass out, or. Well, anything of that sort. So he supposed all-in-all, he'd gotten off easy. And he had Sulu staying over with him and everything.

The only problem was that they were both females, and had been for the last couple of days, and well. That was weird. He'd sort of become acquainted with this look on Sulu the last time that the man had been stuck as a woman, but. Himself being one as well... That was going to take some getting used to. Getting used to that he had hoped wouldn't have to happen, but this being the morning of day 3 of the virus, Ianto was starting to suspect that this one wasn't going to be one of the shorter ones after all.

[Ianto looks at the people milling around in Mickey Mouse ears, at the rides around him and at the people dressed up as characters, princesses and adventurers and just about everything in between as he roams the streets of what seems to be a pretty extravagant version of Disneyland. Ianto's heard about the parks, but he's never been to one himself, and yet still, he figures that this one must be some sort of uber!park. Like that one time that all the worlds combined together into one giant mash-up, that this was the same thing only with Disney parks.

Ianto stops in front of a rather large sort of man-made pond, watching a ferryboat go by on it, and tries to figure out what he's going to do now that he's walked around and investigated the place.]

[RL WITH SULU][backdated to 03-20] Shoreleave: Part 2

Ianto had thought that one day on the planet had been exciting enough, but the prospect of another, when Sulu had mentioned it, had been too good to pass up. They'd had such a nice time on the beach, after all. It was only fair that they do a little exploring, let Sulu look for the alien plants that he would want to and get to watch the other man geek out about something for a while. Ianto himself had been embarrassingly excited about the planet and the beach and all the previous day, after all. It would be nice to be able to be the one to sit back and watch the excitement on someone else for a change, reverse roles from the previous day.

They hadn't gotten too early of a start. After all, this was a vacation for the pair of them, and it wouldn't do to have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning (if there were such a thing in space, Ianto didn't really even know). But they gave themselves the better part of the day, and after having a bite to eat (Ianto wasn't sure he would ever get enough of being fascinated with the replicators), and a quick stop by Ianto's flat for more clothes for him (he needed long pants if they might be venturing into the jungle, after all, it was only practical) they found themselves beaming down to the planet again, Sulu with his kit and Ianto with...well. The clothes on his back, really. He didn't really have anything to bring along himself, since they were mostly going to be exploring inland this time.

Ianto looked up at the clear blue sky above him, and smiled at the fact that even the weather seemed to have adjusted so that it was cool enough for him to be comfortable in jeans, but not too cool that it wasn't still pretty warm. "...god," he said. "It's like this place is gorgeous every day." He shot a smile sideways at Sulu. "Better not let me visit for many more days, I might want to stay," he joked.

[RL WITH CANDY AND JACK]

The Plass was quiet that afternoon. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that up until recently, work crews had been hanging about. In the middle of it, there was a large construction area, complete with tape and tarp up, covering up the fact that there was a large, gaping crater in the center of it. The public had been told that there had been a terrorist attack, but Torchwood knew better. They'd been there for the explosion, and Jack...well. He'd been the center of it.

Speaking of Jack, Jack and Ianto were currently sitting in the tourist office (one of the only parts of the Hub that'd managed to survive mostly intact) amidst boxes of artifacts that they'd managed to scavenge from the wreckage of the Hub so far, each with their own respective cups of coffee. Both of them were having a bit of a late start to things, Sulu having only left a little while ago, and Jack having only really just gotten back from the Enterprise and his night there with Scotty. They were both quiet, sipping their coffee and thinking to themselves.

A lot had happened in the day before. Owen's birthday, their own respective romantic nights out... Ianto didn't really know how to breach the subject of his talk with Owen to Jack, and Jack obviously didn't want to talk about it, so. There they sat, talking about little things, but nothing that really mattered. Until there came an alert up on the computer screen, motion detected outside the tourist office. Someone was out there on the boardwalk. Ianto looked to Jack, raising an eyebrow. They weren't expecting anyone. ...were they?

[RL WITH SULU]

It was dark. A fact which, recently, had become a lot more of an issue than it normally had been for him before, but Ianto wasn't thinking in terms of then and now. Because something was coming for him out of the darkness, but this time he knew exactly what it was, and exactly what would happen to him when they found him. The same thing that happened to Jim, and Sue, and countless others, others that Ianto had barely taken the effort to learn the names of, but watched in horror as they marched them off in a line to those rooms. Those rooms with the plastic hanging from the ceiling, the rooms that, without any walls to block out the sound, made it that much easier to hear the sounds of his coworkers screaming, the sounds of the machines and thank god he couldn't hear the noises of what they were doing over the screaming, or he might just go mad.

He sat, barricaded in the deepest, darkest parts of the archives, the sounds of the machines and those units echoing across the space, because they'd moved and started to set it up in there, now, and Ianto couldn't do a damned thing except hide and hope against all things that they would make enough units to call it quits. That they would finally, finally leave and that he could move, breathe, get away from this place that for the better part of the day he was so sure was going to be his tomb. He had to get out. Had to find Lisa. Had to get them the hell out of there before god knows what else happened next. He cracked the door open just a hair, to try and check if the coast was clear, just in time for one of them to turn down the hallway, searching, looking his direction. Ianto thought his heart might rip out of his chest, it was beating so fast.

[RL WITH GWEN]--forward dated to tomorrow night

Ianto took in a deep breath as he walked down the hallway to the door to Gwen's flat, shifting the pizza box he had with him nervously in his hands. He cold tell that something was wrong, with the way their conversation had gone the night before, and he honestly wasn't surprised if she was angry at him. They needed to talk to each other, needed to get back in touch. Things had been so out of sync since he'd died and come back, and he hadn't been able to see her, hadn't been able to talk to her as much as he would've liked.

It was sort of a norm for everyone to be a little angry at him at that moment. No one had really gotten over him keeping secrets from them yet, and so adding Gwen to the list wasn't a major leap. He really did value her friendship, was interested in how her life had gone in the last month, and wanted to at least try and see if they could mend whatever it was between them that had been broken. So, with Gwen's favorite pizza in hand, he reached her door, steeled himself for any sort of reaction that she might throw at him, and knocked.

[RL WITH SULU AND MCCOY]--backdated to the 29th

Ianto wasn't sure whether he was grateful that Sulu was able to carry him or not. On one hand, he really couldn't walk without passing out anymore, so he supposed it was really for the best that Sulu was as strong as he was, but at the same time...it was rather embarrassing, to be carried through the hallways of the Enterprise, having people that Sulu at least vaguely knew staring at him. Unable to handle their gazes, Ianto turned his head, tucking it against Sulu's chest, so at least he wouldn't have to watch them staring at him.

When Sulu had woken him that morning, telling him that he'd had a conversation with Doctor McCoy the night before and that they were going in to see him, Ianto had been struck with both a feeling of relief, because they might finally get some answers here, and also a feeling of dread, because...what if they didn't. But no, he couldn't go down that road. Not sine he'd promised Sulu that he would try staying optimistic for him, try believing that everything would work out, that McCoy was an excellent doctor and that Sulu was taking him to capable hands, that this was the future and that they had to have something to figure out what was going wrong there, right? Ianto certainly hoped so. Although he couldn't help but wish that Jack had still been around when he woke up, so that he could at least give him a proper goodbye...just in case.

"I can only imagine the sorts of rumors they're going to spread about you now," Ianto said, trying to keep himself feeling lighthearted, though it was hard, considering how sick and tired he felt after not even being awake for all that long, considering what he was about to have to discuss and go through, considering that it was his very life that was at stake, there.

[RL WITH SULU]

Ianto lay in his bed upstairs, a book laying face down on his chest. He had been trying to read for the better part of an hour, but had found himself drifting more often than not, and on the third read-through of the same page he'd given up and just put it down. And he'd been drifting since then as well, not really awake enough to be doing anything other than just lying there, not really tired enough to really go to sleep. More and more each day, while no one else was around, he found himself in this sort of a state, a sort of standby mode that was disturbing in the fact that it didn't really bother him. That nothing really bothered him anymore, because he really couldn't dredge up enough energy to be bothered about it.

He brought a hand up to his face, running it across his eyes. He...he couldn't keep lying to himself like this. At first he thought it had simply been his imagination, that things were just progressing slowly, that was all. For all that he had worried that things wouldn't get better, he had hoped that they would, Sulu continuously helping him be optimistic in that fact, and so the fact that he was going backwards, now, getting worse, it... It was crushing. And he had no idea what he was going to do about it. No idea. The even worse fact of the matter was that he was slowly convincing himself that there was nothing to do about it. That he'd never get better. That it was too late, and he couldn't do anything about it now even if he tried. Which was the mindset he kept spiraling down and dragging himself out of as it approached that time when Sulu would be making his appearance for the night.

[RL WITH SULU]

It'd been a week. A week since that first day that he'd come back from the hospital, and Sulu had had to help him around his flat. A week, most of which he'd spent in a sort of semi-conscious, fatigued and weary state, shuffling about trying to get the necessary things done, but only just succeeding. As Ianto sat on the edge of his bed, just having gotten up from what had been his second nap of the day, and not feeling any better after having taken it, the world spinning around him from having sat up too fast, even though he'd paced himself and been extra careful not to, Ianto had the sinking feeling that in that whole week, he hadn't gotten better at all. Sulu had stuck around until his leave had been up, like he said he would, and then once he'd left, Jack had popped in a few times during the day to help out with chores (he was surprisingly good at doing the dishes and the laundry) and then at night to lie with him (even if Jack didn't sleep and Ianto felt like he was wasting the other man's time). And yet. In that whole week, nothing had changed. Nothing had gotten better. And Ianto was getting sick and tired of being sick and tired, and Jack was great to have around, but. He didn't really understand what it was like to be ill, and sometimes that wore on Ianto even more than not having him around at all.

And now, as the sun was setting, and Jack was off on a sudden call to London, Gwen doing god knows what with Rhys, Ianto wasn't about to disturb their peace, it was all starting to get at Ianto. The darkness was creeping in, and he was beginning to think that maybe he wasn't getting better at all. That maybe he'd never get better. Maybe this was how things would be, from now on. Maybe the darkness really would come for him, because it didn't seem like it would ever really let him go again, and Ianto swallowed against the swell of panic rising in his stomach. He... He couldn't do this. He knew that he didn't want to bother Sulu. That he had specifically refrained from calling him out of the blue for anything since he'd left to go back to his ship, instead waiting for Sulu himself to make the first contact, but. He. He really needed someone there with him. Someone real. Someone who understood and could chase the demons away like he promised he would. And so Ianto did the only thing that he could think of to help, and pulled out his phone to dial the number to Sulu's comm.

[RL WITH SULU]

Ianto had been cleared by John and the attending nurse to be fit to go, and was currently in the process of getting himself presentable enough to be officially discharged. With Jack off on a call about someone having sighted Myfanwy out in the countryside, and Sulu waiting outside for the taxi they'd called to bring him home, that left him with the job of getting dressed by himself. Which was more easily said than done. He'd managed to get his shirt, pants, and trousers on before he'd had to sit down, which he supposed was a good start, but. It annoyed him that he still tired so easily. John had reassured him nearly half a dozen times that he really did look like he was fully on the mend, and he'd probably reassured Jack and Sulu at least half a dozen more, but Ianto was still left with the feeling that he really ought to be doing better by then. Especially after having spent the last however long it had been since he'd come back doing almost nothing but resting. He was tired of resting, and this hospital, and he just wanted to leave.

And so there he was, sat on the edge of the bed, contemplating exactly how he was going to get his shoes on without falling on his face, with the overwhelming sense of deja-vu washing over him in the process. Every time he tried, before he had even gotten half done with it, he'd had to sit up straight again and take deep breaths to keep his vision from swimming, and it was really starting to bother him. If he really was so ready to go back to his flat and function as a normal human being, the least he should be able to do was put on a bloody pair of trainers...

[RL WITH GWEN AND SULU]

Ianto pulled his jacket closer to him as he walked down the street towards the pub he was supposed to meet Gwen at. He'd gone home to change, and had just thrown on whatever he could find, because it was only Gwen, and let's face it. His head wasn't into looking good. It was still reeling from the fact that Jack, like a bloody child or something, had done something he'd explicitly told him not to do, and had ended up breaking his highly expensive machine that he'd customized himself, by the way. Of course, the damage was minimal, but he needed to wait until the spare part came in, and until then, Jack wasn't going to get any coffee from him whatsoever, even if he ordered out. Ianto wasn't sure how just quite yet, but he was going to try and make Jack regret what he'd done as much as he could.

He knew it sounded a bit juvenile, to work like that, but if that's what it came to, then that's what it would be. The shouting match he'd had with the other man that morning had sent him fuming for the whole day, to the point where he was probably snapping at Gwen more than he should be as well. He'd tried to hide down in the archives and avoid Jack as much as possible, but there was paperwork to be done that required Jack's signatures, and well. At the end of the day, when Gwen asked him if he'd like to go out for a drink, he'd all but cried in relief and heartily agreed. And so, exactly on time for when they'd arranged to meet, Ianto opened the door and made his way into the pub, scanning the crowd for Gwen's familiar face.

[RL WITH SULU]

The past few days had been exciting ones, and definitely not in the way that Ianto would have predicted them to be when he'd first set foot on the boat. They should have known that there would be something wrong with this, but how were they to know that Sulu saying that nothing could go wrong after what they'd accomplished on the first night would come back to quite literally haunt them, as it were? Because there really was no denying it anymore. There'd been enough talk about what else had going on in other people's cabins enough to know that it wasn't just their suite. The whole ship was buzzing about it, and though everyone was reporting different things happening, there was really no doubt about it. Regardless of whatever was causing it, the place was haunted.

Ianto'd tried ignoring it. He'd tried rationalizing it, and any other number of things to keep from admitting that what they had were ghosts on their hands. There was really just no denying it anymore. What had started out as objects moving every once and a while, and strange sounds in the night had turned a lot more active over the next few nights, the hot water switching itself off as Ianto was showering, their suitcases emptied out all over the suite while they slept. Ianto'd made sure that the door had been locked each time, and had even taken to sleeping with the key in his shorts pocket, but it wasn't any use. The door hadn't been opening to let anyone in--whatever was happening in the suite, it wasn't coming from the outside.

What had started out as them trying to make the best of their vacation had ended up with, well, at least Ianto being very wary of his surroundings, and of what could possibly go wrong with them. As much as he'd like to initiate something more with Sulu, the idea that they would be watched while they did was...more than a little bit of a turn-off. He hoped that Sulu understood, as it was.

Sulu, for his part, seemed to be taking this whole ghost thing pretty hard. Because paranormal things were sort of right up Ianto's alley, considering that he worked for Torchwood and all, he was trying his hardest to be a good Torchwood officer, keep a level head for the other man, and not freak out at anything that might have otherwise given him pause. Sulu hadn't admitted to being frightened of these ghosts, but. Ianto could tell that he was definitely a lot less comfortable with the thought of them being around than even Ianto himself was. It was almost nice, to be able to be there for Sulu like he had to be because of these hauntings. Almost.

[backdated to the 27th][RL WITH SULU]

Ianto worked on filing in the archives, normally a mind numbing task that he'd enjoy to have a moment to himself, but at this stage in the game, it'd almost become torturous. Left to himself, alone with only his mind, all of his doubts and fears came out to play, and he began to dislike being down in the archives by himself, because there were no distractions, there was just him. More often than not, during the past week and a half, Ianto had found his mind wandering to Sulu. First because of the date, and planning that, then because of the potential relationship that they were starting out together, and then because he hadn't heard from the man in a few days, and then because he hadn't heard from him in longer. Ianto, being the introvert that he was, tried to assure himself that it was all in his head, that Sulu hadn't regretted asking him out, that he wasn't laughing off how much of a child he made Ianto feel somewhere with a bunch of friends from Starfleet, that he hadn't died in some horrible attack without anyone to ever tell Ianto what'd happened...

To be honest, Ianto was a bit of an emotional wreck because of all of this. He was just too much of a pessimist to be left hanging this long without so much as a word, a phone call, even a message from the other man, telling him something as simple as an "I'm alive", because without anything, Ianto couldn't even reassure himself of that, which was probably what frightened him the most. Fears of rejection had gradually morphed into fears of loss, and while he knew it was silly of him to even think that way, it was starting to keep him up at night, the worrying, burning a hole in the pit of his stomach that he was sure would reach abyss levels before too much longer. Ianto was so preoccupied in his thoughts that when he heard the ring he'd set specifically for Sulu, to distinguish his call from the rest, felt the vibration of the phone in his pocket, he was almost sure that he was hallucinating it. But as he put the file in his hand aside, and brought the phone out to see the caller ID read Sulu's name as well, his heart was suddenly in his throat, and he didn't know what to think anymore. His pulse racing, he bit his lip, just staring at the display for a moment, before flipping it open, holding it with bated breath up to his face.

"...hallo?"

[RL WITH GWEN, SULU, AND JACK]

Ianto once again found himself waking in a pile of people, for the second day in a row. He didn't mind as much, this time, though that was mainly because he knew that it was coming. The three of them had set up a room down in the lower levels of the Hub for them to sleep in, considering that neither the sofa nor Jack's little hole in the ground would be comfortable to fit three people. He woke with his hand slayed across Jack's chest, the hand that was cuffed to Sulu's. Which was odd, because he was pretty sure when they were going to sleep, Sulu had been on the other side of him, and not, well, tucked in between Jack as he was now. Or well, she, Ianto contemplated, considering the fact that Sulu was still stuck as a woman. He opened an eye, blearily looking at the other two. Yep, Sulu was definitely still a woman.

Ianto was wondering how to extract himself from the other two without waking either of them up, seeing as how he had to continue touching Jack and was still cuffed to Sulu, when he noticed something very odd. Jack wasn't dressed in the Starfleet uniform that he had been in yesterday, the one he couldn't get off. Instead, well. He was dressed in nothing at all, like he said he'd gone to bed the night before all of this started. And his wriststrap was back, Ianto noted. Well, at least Jack'd be happy to have that back, though it would prove to be yet another awkward situation, due to the fact that Jack was, well, completely naked save for the wriststrap.

But, there was something metal glinting on Jack's other wrist. He sat up a bit further, trying to get a good look at it. A metal bracelet? Ianto thought. Funny it looked exactly like... "Oh, no," Ianto said, jerking awake and sitting up enough to see that they had gained another occupant in the bed. "Gwen?" And at that point, he stopped caring whether he was waking anyone up or not.

[RL WITH GWEN]

Ianto walked toward the pub, having parked his car a little ways down the street. He'd gone back home after he'd gotten out from the Hub, after he'd made sure that all paperwork that needed to be done for the next few days was done, that the creatures in the cells and Myfanwy were fed, and really, that Jack was placated and preoccupied for the night, so he wouldn't try and come over to his flat and find him, well, not there. He knew the man would track him down, if he really wanted to.

Ianto'd changed into more casual clothes, just a pair of jeans, a more casual button-down, and a jacket to go over that. He'd found the jeans that he'd bought with Sulu on that one day that the other man had visited and Ianto had tried to show him around Cardiff, but had ended up in a menswear shop. Not only were they too tight for just a night out to the pub with Gwen, but Gwen'd probably ask questions, and then he'd have to explain it all, and for now, he'd really prefer not to explain it all, especially considering he doesn't really understand what's going on with all of that himself.

He knew, entering the bar, that he would probably be the first one of the two there. Gwen, bless her, was always running fashionably late. Or well, maybe Ianto was just a little bit too much on time. Regardless, he went and found a table around the normal area that they usually sat, ordering up a lager for himself, and sat down to wait for Gwen.

[RL WITH CHARLE AND JACK]

Ianto stood at his coffee machine, setting the beans to grind. It had been a pretty quiet week at the Hub, all things considered. Gwen was out at her parent's because of it--were he someone else, he would be jealous of the amount of free time off she got at this job, but she was his best friend, and there was no resentment there. She deserved to have a normal life, lord knows one of them had to. Ianto just had too much of his life riding on Jack and Torchwood, Jack was an immortal Time Agent, and Charle was, well, a tree.

He filled mug up with hot water, taking a tea bag from the special stash he had for her, and popped it in the mug as well. Might as well bring it up to her while he let the machine warm up. Taking the mug in hand, he climbed the spiral stairs behind the machine and up to the second level, heading straight for the hothouse where he knew he'd find the woman in question. "Good morning," he said, smiling (already having had his first cup or two of caffeine, of course).

Ianto sat at his desk in the tourist office, idly flipping through a magazine that he'd read about fifty times already that day. Needless to say, things were particularly slow. Gwen had been given the day off to go spend time with Rhys, and Jack was god knows where, so Ianto'd sent a quick phone call out to Sulu, to see if the man was interested in taking him up on his offer of a tour of Torchwood, and was currently waiting for his response.

[RL WITH AKIHIKO]

Ianto sat at his computer down in his personal room in the archives--the bowels of the Hub, the closest thing to a domain that Ianto figured he would ever get. He sat back and pinched his nose, frowning against the headache that the fog was causing him. It seemed to be ever-present no matter what he did, and that annoyed him as he tried to work around it. They had to be on top of things--mistakes cost a person dearly in a job such as Torchwood. Ianto had full intentions of going through the archives with Akihiko looking for weapons that might prove useful in fighting against the Shadows regardless of whatever ridiculous headache he had. He stood from the computer to go down to the correct archive section and get ready to let Akihiko in before going through the archives they had with him. For a second, his headache got really intense, and he started to bring a hand to his forehead. And then he changed.

"That's better," Ianto said. And yet it wasn't Ianto. This Ianto had casual clothes, a silver chain around his neck with a Welsh dragon on it, and a five o'clock shadow--like a Ianto that had lived on the streets for a while. But he undeniably looked exactly like the other man.

It seemed that the room changed with him, and in fact the whole archives changed. No longer were they Ianto's archives at all, instead changed to look like a room in an abandoned warehouse, much like the one that they had tried to rescue the whale alien from what seemed like ages ago. It was a place that was very familiar to Ianto; he'd spent many a day as a misguided youth hiding from his life and his responsibilities in this building, in this large open room. He moved to sit on a crate by the wall, grabbing a dirty magazine from the floor and casually flipping through it.

[RL WITH AKIHIKO AND JACK]

Ianto had had enough of the Hub for one night. Being cooped down in the archives working on a filing system that never seemed to go anywhere fast for the past few days had left him feeling a bit antsy, and he'd really just needed to get out and breathe fresh air for a while. Which was why when as soon as he finished the section he had been working on for the majority of that day, he had interrupted Akihiko's own work to ask him out for a coffee. Jack was nowhere to be found, but Ianto left him a note, and he felt that was as good a notice as he could give him. The Captain was probably down in one of the many training rooms or something, which meant that he'd rather not be disturbed anyway.

Which was the reason Ianto stood at the counter at a cafe a few blocks off the Plass, having left Akihiko to keep watch of their table. All that had been left was one of those little round ones with two arm chairs on either side that cafes seemed to be sporting more and more often for the people who would rather do their work at the cafe than go home and do it. Ianto had to admit that the chairs did look comfortable, but he couldn't help but feel a bit of a fool at the idea of sitting in one of the tattered old armchairs in a suit that obviously cost at least twice what the chair originally had.

"Jones, Ianto?" the woman at the counter called out, pulling him out of his train of thought, and he quickly stepped up and accepted the paper cups from her with a murmur of thanks. He headed back to Akihiko, placing the younger man's drink on the table in front of him and folding himself into his chair. "Can't guarantee it'll be the best you've had, but it's probably the best that we can buy around here so late in the evening," he said to Akihiko, cradling his own cup in his hands to warm them. "Sorry I sprung this on you so suddenly, I just needed..." He trailed off, shrugging and looking around. Truthfully, he needed something simple and normal, after a day of wading through the files of a particularly dark era of Torchwood history.
